Donald Coxe's fine art of spotting the obvious trend

Global Strategist

FINANCIAL POST STARMINE TOP ANALYSTS: Donald Coxe, global portfolio strategist at BMO Financial Group, has consistently made money since he started managing funds in 1972.

Spotting the obvious may be considered a lowly form of strategy in an investing world where algorithmic trading, Black-Scholes modelling and statistical arbitrage are considered the height of financial fashion.

But Donald Coxe has turned it into a fine art. "Everything that I do is based on pretty obvious things," admits Mr. Coxe, global portfolio strategist at BMO Financial Group and this year's winner of the award for top analyst from the National Post and Star-mine.
